Duanmen Digital Palace
An Immersive Space Narrating the History in Forbidden City
Chief Designer & Art Director / 2016 Beijing, China
Duanmen Palace is the front gate of the Forbidden City. This digital museum was designed to allow visitors to experience the emperors' daily life. As a token of respect for this traditional building of over 500 years old, media technologies were designed to be hidden within the royal architectural elements. Accordingly, different royal events were displayed on digital gates, as if through the gates Duanmen Palace was connected to different locations in Forbidden City.
